REQUESTED: Naked Palettes

Urban Decay is an American make-up brand which over the years has become increasingly popular over here in the UK. The company are cruelty-free and committed to ending animal testing completely within the make-up industry (i like this a lot).

If i had to give a definition for what i think Urban Decay is, i would most likely say that it's 'beauty with an edge'. Not only do they offer a wide range of amazing quality products, but they also make it super easy for their customers to put together stunning looks very effortlessly.

If you've heard of Urban Decay then you're probably going to be familiar with the fact that one of their best-selling products are the Naked palettes. Currently there are 4 different ones available, the newest being the 'Naked Smoky' palette which is filled with beautiful cool and warm tone colours, perfect for creating subtle or bold smokey eye looks.
As well as the 4 larger palettes there are 2 smaller ones which are filled with more basic, neutral tones. These could be used alone or with any of the others to create even more looks.

Comparing the palettes-

Although the colours do vary in each palette, you will notice that between the Naked, Naked 2, Naked 3 & the Naked Smoky set, there are many colours that when applied, do look very similar. As well as this, colours such as 'half-baked' appear in not only the original Naked, but also in the Naked 2. This isn't something that bothers me personally as i find half-baked to be a very easy colour to use, therefore it ends up being more than handy to have it in two of the palettes.

Naked Basics 1 & 2.

Both of these palettes are lovely. They can be used to create a highlighted brow, a subtle cut crease and an all round natural, everyday look. The Basics 1 palette includes the colour 'crave' which enables you to also create a dramatic smokey eye or a smudged liner effect, whereas the Basics 2 palettes includes only lighter shades with 'undone' being the darkest (a medium grey shimmer). If you're wanting to create simple, daytime looks then i would recommend the Naked Basics 1 over the 2, just because i think the colours they have chosen to include within it can be used to create a wider variety of looks.

Naked, Naked 2 & Naked 3.

These three palettes will literally bring you joy every single day, Since my lovely boyfriend bought me Naked 2 & Naked 3 from this collection there hasn't been a day that i haven't used at least one colour from each. The great thing is, is that you can create so many different looks by mixing colours from the different palettes, creating new shades that you didn't even realise were possible!

Right now i am absolutely in love with the Naked 3 palette as i'm really enjoying experimenting with the pink tones and and more girly shades that it has to offer. My favourite colours have got to be; dust, buzz and mugshot. I also love 'nooner' though as it can be used to create a really delicate cut crease. The only thing i will say about the Naked 3 is that because many of the shades are pinky tones, they can make you look a little washed out if you're very pale. I've managed to work around this by applying a little more bronzer than usual and even a brighter lip.

Palette 2 consists of gold and bronze tones, which i think is really lovely for when you want to glam yourself up! I used this constantly over Christmas and will continue to do so until it completely runs out. Every time i use palette 2 i instantly go to the colour 'chopper'. It's a super pigmented light bronze which i think is flattering on anyone, regardless of skin tone and eye colour. 'Tease' is also a favourite of mine as it's easy to work with and compliments many of the colours in not only palette 2, but also all of the others.

Last but not least, the original Naked palette. I feel like compared to the others, there isn't really a strict theme in terms of colours. There are peach, gold, bronze, blue and grey tones which although are very different, work really well together. If i'm completely honest i don't actually own this palette but having watched countless make-up tutorials i have noticed that a lot of MUA's tend to also use other palettes alongside it. This palette is great for someone who's new to Urban Decay as it really does give you a wide variety of shades to work with, enabling you to figure out what suits you best.

Naked Smoky.

All girls love a smokey eye for a night out. It's often a go to look that can be as simple or as bold as you like. Urban Decay got it just right with this palette as they've included a range of colours that compliment each other, as well as blending well together to create flawless looks. 'Black market' is the darkest shade that you get, however it isn't black, and you don't get a black (which many people expected). The colour is almost a gunmetal grey, but taken up a notch. It's light enough to be used all over the lid of the eye, but it's also dark enough to be used to create a super dramatic crease or winged shadow effect. All of the colours in the smoky palette are fabulous and i definitely recommend trying it out if you're into wearing darker shades.

I hope this post has been informative and helpful if you're looking to buy any of the Naked products. I love Urban Decay and probably will until i stop wearing make-up (which will be never).

xoxo
