Urban Decay: Review, Part 1 - MOONDUST PALETTE

Hello again pretties!!

I've been slightly inactive lately as i've just started semester two of my second year of uni & it's all been a little bit crazy, however i am back and this time with part 1 of my Urban Decay 'mini series'.

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you'll probably have been that i recently received the Urban Decay Moondust palette. This was very kindly gifted to me by my boyfriend, and since opening it i have been obsessed!

I think it completely goes without saying that i may have a slight addiction to glitter and holy s**t has this palette completely changed the game. The pigmentation of each shade is phenomenal, not only that but the colours themselves are absolutely gorgeous. The one i've found myself going back to at any given opportunity though is the purple colour called 'galaxy'. I've never really worn purple eyeshadow before but after using it alongside the Rimmel London, Kate Moss waterproof eyeshadow stick in 'Amethyst' purple has been my colour of the month!

As i've had the palette a few weeks now, i've tried out all of the colours and have to admit i really like every single one of them. I can see already that the two i'm going to use the most though are 'granite' and 'lithium'. Granite is a silver/grey shade with the colour of the actual shadow being a mid grey whilst the flecks of glitter within are silver. Similarly, the shadow colour of Lithium is a burnt gold colour, whilst the glitter is a brighter gold.

One thing i have found when using this palette though is that it works better when you spray your application brush with some fixing spray. They work absolutely fine without, but i find that the glitter stays in place for a lot longer with a little help.

If you haven't used glitter shadows before, especially ones that have some fall out, i definitely recommend picking up some sort of fixing spray or setting spray to avoid making a mess under your eyes. It doesn't have to be anything expensive, i'm currently using the Super Stay 24 hour spray by Maybelline which cost me only £6.99 in Boots. It works wonders for all glitter shadows as well as keeping the rest of your make-up in place all day.

When i used the shadows dry and without fixing spray i was able to diffuse the shades and create a more smokey-glitter effect. When the eyeshadows are wet/dampened with fixing spray i found that i could achieve a very opaque look with very little fall out. Both ways create amazing looks, it completely depends on what you fancy that day or what the occasion is!

As someone who loves to wear glitter every single day (literally no exaggeration) i tend to use them dry for daytime looks and wet for when i'm going on a night out or just want something a little more dramatic. It's so versatile!

I really hope you've enjoyed Part 1 of my Urban Decay Review & i'll be back on Friday with a brand new palette to share with you!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

xoxo
